What “attorney-reviewed” actually means (and what it doesn’t)

Tomorrow we launch ScopeAccord, and we want to be exactly as clear about what that does and doesn’t mean as we’ve tried to be about everything else.

ScopeAccord’s Wisconsin Home Remodeling Contract and Change Order templates have been reviewed by Wisconsin construction counsel. That review matters. It’s the difference between a template someone assembled from statute citations and one an actual attorney specializing in Wisconsin construction law has looked at and signed off on.

Here’s what it doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean ScopeAccord determines legal compliance for your specific job. It doesn’t mean every contract it generates is automatically correct for every situation; unusual jobs, unusual terms, or edge cases in your specific contract may still be worth a second look from your own attorney. And it doesn’t mean ScopeAccord is giving you legal advice, ever. It isn’t, and it won’t claim to be.

It’s also worth saying plainly what ScopeAccord doesn’t touch. Your Dwelling Contractor and Qualifier certifications still have to be current with DSPS on their own renewal cycle, independent of anything in the app. Building permits still get pulled the way they always have, through your municipality, under the Uniform Dwelling Code. ScopeAccord organizes and documents your side of the paperwork. It doesn’t replace the credentialing or permitting process that sits alongside it.

What counsel review does mean is that you’re starting from a foundation built around Wisconsin’s real requirements: the lien notice, the right to cancel, the defect notice, ATCP 110’s change-order rules, instead of a generic template or a blank page. You still read every document. You still confirm every field. Nothing changes about that.

We’d rather tell you exactly where the line is than let you assume it’s further than it actually is. That’s the whole design philosophy behind ScopeAccord, and it doesn’t change on launch day just because there’s a launch day.
